In this range of craft books we aim to cover many of the home-craft activities that were popular with our grandparents but many of which have almost died away. Their place has been taken by mass-produced plastic artifacts and television. It is not that people today lack the skills, or the ability to learn those skills, the popularity of DIY home improvements is wintness to that, but many of the older crafts have lain dormant for so long that people have forgotten the fascination they can be. We are reprinting some of the old out of print books on craft subjects, and compiling others from various sources, and are treating home crafts widely to cover everything from toy making to watch and clock repairing. Please visit this section often, or keep an eye on our What's New? page, because we have a lot of old material waiting to be processed.

This extremely practical book covers watch and clock cleaning and repairing as it was in 1918, and is aimed mainly at the amateur craftsman. It was editied by Bernard E.  Victorian Home Crafts

Many Victorians served long apprecticeships and were great people for turning their skills towards home crafts. Long before the advent of mass-produced mechanical and electronic toys, many of these craftsmen made toys which were handed down from child to child in their large families. This book, compiled from a series of features first pulished in 1887, describes in detail how to make a Model Theatre with several action scenes, a Marionette Theatre with puppets, a Punch and Judy Show and a number of intriguing moving toys.
